What To Do When a Loved One Passes

If a loved one has passed, you may be feeling a whole range of emotions and uncertainty of what to do next.

  1. Please call 919.728.7777 to schedule a funeral service. Our compassionate team, including on-call funeral directors, care team, and answering service, are available to assist with immediate needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  2. During this call, a funeral director will guide you through immediate next steps, including what to do if your loved one passes away at home.
  3. An arrangement meeting will be scheduled to discuss funeral service and burial options.

 

The Arrangement Meeting

An arrangement meeting is necessary to review funeral service and burial options, as well as statistical information, which will be used to complete a certified copy of the death certificate. Please note that the arrangement meeting may take place virtually or
in-person at the funeral home.

 

Funeral Service Options

During the arrangement meeting, a funeral director will explain the funeral and service options available, which may include services at the funeral home, graveside services, and memorial services.

Prepare to Meet with the Funeral Home

As you prepare to meet with the funeral home, please find a list of information that will be helpful to have available at the arrangement meeting:

  • Any known burial wishes
  • Social security number
  • Date of birth of the deceased
  • Maiden name (if female)
  • Insurance Information
  • Cemetery Deed
  • Military papers (if applicable)
  • Hebrew name
  • Clothing or talis for deceased
  • A photo
  • Obituary details
